Ever since I heard that one of my favorite singers Ivan Moody (Five Finger Death Punch, Motograter) , was going to be in a horror flick, I have been anxiously awaiting (with white knuckles) for the finished product. This was one of those movies that you want to like even before you see it, and trust me; I tried very hard to like it. It just didn’t have any guts. No plot, no thrills, no horror, nothing! It was such a disappointment; I cringe just talking about it..

“Sai, a young artist living in a downtown loft unknowingly gets sucked into a world of blood and lust. An enigmatic foreigner seduces her to try a long forgotten drug making her the prey of a dimensional vampire who needs her new found hunger for blood to cross over from his world to hers.” (SOURCE: IMDB) So what should you expect? This is the kind of movie that will connect with a small amount of people, the artsy, underground kind of movie watcher. I am not that kind of viewer. Don’t get me wrong, I like meaningful metaphoric films, but it has to be done right, and this movie just doesn’t deliver on any level.

There are some good spots and I don’t want to leave them out. First, Ivan Moody, who played the Incubus, was definitely creepy. The make-up on his character was very scary and I believe his mannerisms made the creature much more terrifying. I also really enjoyed the “dream world” or whatever the other world was supposed to be. The sets and cinematography during those scenes seemed like they were filmed and directed by another team.

The movie in general was just too slow and too jumbled. For having an R rating it was surprisingly dull in violence, I’m not even sure why it was rated R. I never got to know any of the characters, so I lost that empathy factor, and I did not like the actors. They were just the wrong cast for this film. So I suggest you pass on this film, if you do watch it, and like it, I would love to hear why.
